Lyonnes Women produced a stunning second-half performance to dismantle Strasbourg Women in a comprehensive 5–0 victory at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais. What began as a cagey contest turned into a showcase of Lyonnes’s tactical superiority, as the champions overwhelmed their visitors with relentless pressure and clinical finishing.

For much of the first half, Strasbourg executed its game plan effectively. Compact defending and disciplined positioning frustrated Lyonnes, who were forced into speculative efforts and a series of corners. Early chances for Strasbourg, including Amanda Chaney’s shot in the 7th minute and Élise Bonet’s effort moments later, hinted at promise, but Lyonnes’s defense, marshalled by Wendie Renard, stood firm. Lyonnes themselves saw opportunities go begging, with Damaris Egurrola and Ashley Lawrence missing from range, while Murphy Agnew was repeatedly flagged offside as Strasbourg tried to counter.

The breakthrough came at the perfect moment for Lyonnes. In the 45th minute, Vicki Becho latched onto Ashley Lawrence’s pass and fired a precise left-footed shot into the bottom corner. The goal, arriving in stoppage time, was a psychological hammer blow to Strasbourg, undoing their disciplined first-half resistance.

The second half told a very different story. Lyonnes emerged with renewed intensity, and within 12 minutes, disaster struck for Strasbourg. In the 57th minute, Amanda Chaney, under pressure, turned the ball into her own net to double Lyonnes’s lead. From that moment, the visitors’ spirit seemed broken. Lyonnes sensed weakness and pressed forward with ruthless intent.

Jule Brand added a third in the 69th minute, finishing coolly from the center of the box. Substitutions kept Lyonnes’s energy high, with Melchie Dumornay and Korbin Shrader injecting fresh legs into the attack. Strasbourg’s attempts to respond through midfield changes and defensive reinforcements were swept aside by wave after wave of Lyonnes’s pressure.

The fourth goal arrived in the 84th minute, when Tarciane rose highest to head home from close range after Sofie Svava’s delivery. Just minutes later, in the 88th minute, Ada Hegerberg was restored to the pitch and sealed the rout with a trademark header from Lily Yohannes’ cross. Strasbourg’s late fouls and injury delays only compounded their misery, as Lyonnes continued to earn corners and free kicks right up to the final whistle.

By the end, the scoreline was a fair reflection of Lyonnes’s dominance. Strasbourg had shown resilience in the opening 45 minutes, but Becho’s opener shifted the momentum irreversibly. The own goal early in the second half broke their resolve, and Lyonnes’s superior depth, fitness, and attacking quality proved unstoppable. Goals from Brand, Tarciane, and Hegerberg capped a ruthless display that underlined why Lyonnes remains the benchmark in the ArkemaPL.
